This listing is for the FLAT D-rings. They are supposed to be 1”, and technically they are. You can fit 1” webbing through the opening. Personally, I feel like a slightly smaller webbing or handmade strap would glide better.

The strap opening measures right at 1”, but I would suggest making your straps slightly, maybe .95”
